2013 Tour of South Meath Sportive
Clonard Road Club would like to thank everyone who took part
yesterday, both in the 50k and the 100k events.
Thank you also to all the volunteers for helping to make the
event run smoothly and getting everyone safely around the two
courses.

====================
On Sunday, 29th September, we will host our annual Leisure
Sportive Event - the Tour of South Meath. We will use the
original course again (see links on left of this page), and
riders will roll out together at 11am for the 100km route,
followed shortly afterwards by the 50km riders.
Both routes will be clearly marked on the roads, junctions will
be marshaled, and there will be a lead car and mechanical
support.
Sign-on will be open until 10:30am in Mother Hubbards (which
is on the old N4 road, between the towns of Enfield and
Kinnegad).
(note the venue change from previous
years)
Entry is only 15euro, and there will be a food/water stop en
route, and then afterwards there will be hot food for all
participants back in Mother Hubbards.
To try and ensure that everyone enjoys their cycle, we will have
separate groups rolling out, with different average speeds -
this will allow you to choose the group that best meets your
ability:
- 1st off will be a faster-paced group (28-32km/h)
- 2nd group average speed at about (25-28km/h)
- 3rd group will average about 22-25km/h
The first group will roll out about one minute ahead of the 2nd
group, and the 3rd group one minute behind again.
The 50k riders will then assemble, and will head out a few
minutes later.
** Important Safety Notice **
EVERYONE taking part in the events must wear a helmet - no one
will be allowed to participate without one.
No Tri bars are allowed, and no Time Trial bikes either.
As with all leisure/sportive events, please remember THIS IS NOT
A RACE, and be aware that
normal rules of the road will
apply at all times.
Please be careful on the approach to junctions, and pay
attention to the signals given by the Marshals at the junctions
(e.g. you may be required to stop due the traffic conditions).
If you are new to riding with a group, we have some excellent
safety advice
here.
