Club League race 6 - CP, Kinnegad Circuit

The penultimate round of the Club League took place on Tuesday 14th August.

The bad weather held off for the evening, allowing everyone a rare chance to ride their bikes in nice warm and dry conditions.  We had a great turnout for the race, and also for the Ladies leisure spin which took place in parallel to the main race.
We are very grateful to all the marshals who helped out on the night, and to Michelle for the great photos again!
Also we were very pleased to have so many guest riders in from Edenderry and Mullingar - great to have you along guys!

The race itself was hotly contested, and for the Scratch Group it got off to a very fast pace with Ger Dunne and guest rider Mickey Dan riding away from the group on the first lap.

The two lads then simply ploughed through all of the groups ahead of them, never to be seen again by the scratch group.  3 riders just about managed to hang on with Ger and Micky as they caught and passed every rider on the road before the last run through Kinnegad, and a very strong performance by Micky Dan saw him ride clear on his own to take a great solo win on the night.

Next in to the finish was Ger Dunne to take second place, followed just behind then by Andy Flood in third.  4th and 5th places went to guest riders Enda Mullaney and John McNally.

The remainder of the semi-scratch and limit groups which had merged on the circuit then came in with Paddy Ronan leading the charge to the line to take 6th, followed by man-of-the-Ras Ken Maye in 7th making his debut appearance in the 2012 league.

The circuit was again be 3 laps of the mainly flat Kinnegad circuit that we used last month.  Each lap was 14km long, and the finish line was be just before Clonard Village on the last lap.  Total distance for the race is 41km (approx).
