Ladies Sportive 2012: May Bank Holiday Weekend.

The first Clonard Road Club Ladies tour went well despite the wet day.

50 brave Ladies turned up for the leisure tour, on what was a wet morning, with frequent heavy showers forecast for the day.
Given the conditions, after consulting with the Ladies it was agreed to shorten the 80k to 60k approx.

The tour rolled out a 11am. As luck would have it, the rain stopped just as the tour headed off, and luckily the rain stayed away for most of the trip.

At Rathmolyon, the ladies were greeted by Des and Kathleen Maye who filled them with food, drink and chat.
Then on to Ballivor, and Kinnegad, where eventually the heavy showers caught the ladies, but everyone was on the home stretch by then.

All ladies arrived back to Clonard safe and sound for a welcome hot meal in the Monastery Inn.

An enjoyable day was had by all the ladies who took part in the event.

Thanks to all the lads who turned out to marshal on the day, and of course to Michelle Kavanagh for her Photos!!

Club Spins 2012

As mentioned on our homepage, we usually have a weekly spin especially for Lady Cyclists, meeting on Sunday mornings, at 9am from Mother Hubbards car park.
Please note that the spins are by arrangement only (ring Marie @ 087 994 8950 on the Saturday to make sure we are meeting up!!!)

Spins are usually about one hour long, and are open to beginners and more experienced lady cyclists also.

We usually follow a number of routes, each route offering a mixture of terrain and difficulty. You can view more details on some of our cycles on our cycle routes page.

You will need a road bike or hybrid bike to comfortable complete the cycle routes.

**NB** Everyone taking part in the spins are required to wear a cycle helmet.

Here is a link to some important safety information for taking part in group spins.
